Professional Development: Preparing for the Future
Posted by Joanna on March 26, 2020
Tomorrow, March 6, ASM’s faculty and staff will gather for our scheduled Professional Development Day. Due to the onset of COVID-19 in the United States, we will spend the day planning for potential scenarios that may arise due to the virus.
As we are seeing in other countries, school closure is one possible scenario. We will explore options and resources for continuity of learning for our students and work plans for our faculty and staff. Some of the options may include the use of technology, on-line resources, units of study and learning packets. We will make plans within our program levels for age-appropriate activities.
In an abundance of caution, our morning greeting on Monday will be an “air bump”. This means that we will begin the fist bump and stop short of touching one another. I appreciate you practicing with your child at home!
I want to assure you that we are taking these steps to be proactive and prepared for a worst-case scenario. We all hope that COVID-19 can be contained and not impact our community’s health or learning. We do, however always need to be prepared in order to keep our community safe.
