“ASM began its strategic planning process from a position of strength. Guided
by our mission and Montessori philosophy, we have accomplished much over
the past 5 years. ASM’s enrollment has grown, its curriculum has been
strengthened and our graduates are attending the area’s finest secondary
schools. We have made both aesthetic and structural improvements to our
facility which present opportunities for future renovation and expansion.
Our strategic planning process has made clear to us our goals for the future
~ Head of School, Joanna DeStefanis
The strategic planning process began by examining our current mission, vision and value statements. ASM’s faculty and staff, along with strategic planning committee members of the board of directors, asked the questions “who are we” and “where we are going” as a school. We engaged our current and former parents as well as alumni in surveys, focus groups and one on one conversations to gather data that would inform our strategic plan.
After generative thinking and in-depth analysis, the group developed and agreed upon new mission, vision and core values statements and prioritized strategic goals for the next five years. The strategic plan represents ASM’s commitment to academic excellence and a culture that reflects Maria Montessori’s life work.
